The event will include the debut release of our SPRING 09 collection, along with discounted prices on past seasons. All tees from FALL/WINTER 08 will be $15 and anything older than that will be on clearance for $10. Also, we'll have a deal where if you BUY ANY 5 TEES, it's ONLY $75! And we got some new stickers so you get some of those FREE with all purchases!

Come down and hang out! The sale will be here at our beloved GRink/L&O warehouse and we'll be serving up some FREE hot dogs for everyone. Doors open at 11AM. Cash and credit card accepted.

Speaking of SPRING 09..

A few weeks back, we received a very kind email from a guy named Callum from Australia.

In his email, he revealed to us that he had been watching our brand ever since we started in 2007 and that he also shares a lot of similar interests and beliefs. He's a huge D.I.Y. enthusiast, he's in a hardcore band, he loves to tour, he's a wiz at graphic design, and he even knows how to screen print. Long story short, Callum was in town for a week because he'll be touring with a band called Ceremony for the next few weeks throughout the US.

We decided to meet up with him in Los Angeles and ended up talking about everything including streetwear, the music industry, "artfagz", bikes, being D.I.Y., shoes, touring, and the fact that we happen to know a lot of the same people. He's a great dude and now a new good friend of ours and we definitely hope to see him again very soon! Happy travels!

Actually, this leads me to my next topic. Callum was staying at a hostel on Melrose Ave literally across the street from the Johnny Cupcakes store. Over the course of a couple days, Callum ran into Johnny a couple times and they eventually became friends and Johnny invited him to help out at his lectures the next day. Fortunately, I was already planning on going to the Whittier College lecture so I was happy that we would get to meet with Callum again and of course, see Johnny.

The lecture was very inspiring, especially for people like us. We'll always look up to Johnny for showing that you can take anything that your passionate about and turn it into a life-long achievement. Even cupcakes.

Sorry Johnny, we disagree with you on that one ;)

Callum was helping Johnny out by handling most of the photographic duties. He took a picture of us before we left.

It's been a pretty fun week, to say the least! Here's a couple fun photos.. I saw this poster while driving through LA.

And Pfeffer was washing out some screens using the high pressure water and had an accident. "Did a smurf cum on your face?"

Just One of Those Days

The scene from Office Space doesn't seem like such a bad idea today.

We've been having continual problems for the past week and a half with our Epson printer here at the shop and it has been slowing down our progress for GRink and L&O! It's really frustrating because without this printer, we can't make transparencies! And without transparencies, we can't make screens! And without screens, we can't print shirts! And without shirts, everyone will be naked! I guess that's not so bad.

Anyway, if you are a GRink customer that is waiting on your order of custom printed merchandise, we apologize for the delays and thank you for your patience and understanding! We are working very hard to keep up amidst the technical difficulties and equipment malfunctions. Thanks!

And those of you who also screen print on your own, I know you can feel our pain.

Ok, now for some good news. It looks like Jack in the Box is having yet another FREE giveaway in support of their fallen leader. Check it out HERE.

But wait, there's more! Looks like Quiznos is pulling their own marketing stunt as well by offering a FREE sub, but you can't just print out the coupon. You'll have to surrender your email address for this one, still worth it though. Click HERE to check it out! Interesting way to get people to sign up for their newsletter by trading free food. Oh yeah, and they're only offering a million of these so sign up quick!

Enjoy!

Cancelled!

Hey folks, just wanted to let you know that this weekend's parking lot sale has been cancelled. The dudes at Nefarious and The Higher Class apologize for the last minute bad news but due to situations out of their hands and beyond our jurisdiction, the festivities have been cancelled.

If you're as bummed as this kitty, don't worry. We've decided to have our own little sale since it's been over half a year since our last one. We're not sure when yet, but we'll keep you posted. And of course, we promise there will be deals. Good ones. And food. Free food. More info coming soon!

Have a good weekend!

No 'i' In 'Team'

But there is an 'i' in 'win'. And speaking of winning teams, this past weekend Juan and I went 10-1 in beer pong competitions at Ramiro's surprise birthday bash. Yes, you read correctly - that's 10 wins and 1 loss! As you can see from the photo, this was taken at around game 7. You can imagine how ultimately shambizzed I was by game 11. At that point, I'm pretty sure I wanted someone to beat us. Thank you, Kris G and Scott, for finally beating us. We appreciate it haha!

I'm not sure how we pulled that off all night, but we welcome any challengers at the next rager. Bring your A game! I smell an official tournament in the near future. Oh goodness..

And speaking of teams, we'd like you to meet Tyler. He's the first addition to our little graphic design team and we're definitely very excited to have him on board. We met him a while back playing hardcore shows with his former band, A Dying Dream (RIP)/The Ghost Inside. Nowadays he's been doing a lot more graphic design and screen printing with his company Coastal City Design making him a perfect fit into our D.I.Y. aesthetic. The concepts and images that we've already been working on are exciting and we can't wait to show you what's coming for Spring and Summer this year.

Aaaaaand here's Winston.

I wish he was part of our team as well, but we aren't that lucky yet. We had the pleasure of dog-sitting this awesome dude last week and we hope he comes back soon!

I want a pug so bad. I know my chances are super slim, but if anyone hears of a pug that's up for adoption, hit me up - vince@loudobnoxious.com!

I want this one! Sigh..

Hi. We're Blink 182.

I don't care how old you are! This is exciting news! I'm so glad Tom finally came to his senses and they all kissed and made up. I can't wait.

It doesn't really matter what "scene" or culture you currently pledge allegiance to. At some point in your life you had spiked hair (possibly bleached tips like me), wore Lee Pipes (yeah, you remember), owned a pair of Osiris D3's (the one Fred Durst wore, duh), and you were listening to a Blink 182 CD that you actually bought. More info at Blink182.com.

I'm stoked. Summer 09 is gonna rule. Speaking of Spring and Summer, keep an eye out! Updates coming!

Hang In There, Jack!

FREE MEDIUM CURLY FRIES - TODAY ONLY!

Nuff said. Go get 'em! CLICK HERE!

I love this marketing campaign. They're creating a new, refreshing cult following for their beloved icon, and it's totally working. Ever since those Super Bowl ads, people can't help but talk about how crazy and ridiculous Jack In The Box is and that's exactly what they wanted! If you've been living under a rock, here's the original commercial that aired during the Super Bowl telecast:

They made Jack vulnerable and just like in a TV drama show, everyone wants to know what's going to happen next! They've even created a blog for updates at HangInThereJack.com and started posting more and more YouTube videos of people involved in the crash or people who were supposedly present when it happened. There's so much potential with this campaign that they could take this so much further.

For example, you know how Jack's second-in-command, Phil (video above), is now the acting-CEO for the company? And how he seems super nervous every time he has to talk about Jack's situation and handling the company on his own without Jack? What if there was a commercial of Phil losing his nerve and coming up with some crazy deal? Something like that would be the opportune moment to present some new special deal, as if Phil is a bad decision maker and is making the company do things it would never do if Jack was around.

Man, I love marketing. If I ever go back to school to finish my degree, I'm almost positive I'll be doing marketing. Just you watch. In the next 10 years, you might see one of my campaigns out there. I'll let you know when that happens :)

Viral marketing is infectious! I love it!

iLag

Apologies on lagging on the posts, guys. You know how we roll. A combination of being busy and lazy can lead to a lack of blog posts. During the week, we just get so damn busy that it's hard to keep up, but then when I do have time post, all I want to do is be as far from a computer as possible. Preferably in a bed catching up on some Z's or on a couch watching TV. And by TV, I'm talkin' Discovery Channel, National Geographic, Food Network, Comedy Central, etc. Fuck MTV. Fuck VH1. Shit's weak!

Before I forget again, I need to acknowledge our current reigning Beer Pong champions, Baby Jase and Cindia.

They went nearly undefeated all night during the Super Bowl game festivities. Watch out though! Me and Daniel are comin' up in the game!

Speaking of Baby Jase, this dude is all over the place. We had him over at BOJANGLES on Thursday night throwing some L&O gear out for the grand opening. Oh yeah, thanks to EVERYONE who came out! You made it a very successful night and looks like BOJANGLES will be raging every Thursday at The Airliner in Los Angeles! Check their page for updates!

Happy belated birthday to Dann! Hell of a set that night too! Good job.

And this past weekend, Baby Jase handled the mic for our currently vocalist-less band, Dear Life. I'm sure we've got some photos from that madness coming soon. We played a Rage Against The Machine cover so if you missed it, too bad. Baby Jase is everywhere. No wonder why we put him on a shirt.

The show was actually the CD Release Party for our friends in Dead In Existence. Make sure to check out "Searching Confidence", it's as brutal as it gets.

If you live in Southern California, you know that Winter suddenly showed up again. Along with Winter's return came a ridiculous and sudden downpour of heavy rain. In fact, it's still raining outside my office.

Stay dry!

We've got some cool stuff coming up from Spring and Summer so stay tuned! I've been working with our new graphic design team to start finalizing some concepts so keep an eye out for some releases! I'll be introducing some of our newest designers soon as well.

Norton Simon: Part 1

A few months back, I visited the Norton Simon Museum in Pasadena, CA to check out their latest collections. My favorite was an exhibit of American propaganda posters from World War I and II. Feelings, emotions, and messages were conveyed and expressed using strong imagery and persuasive one-liners urging Americans to be "all you can be" without even picking up a weapon. The country knew that strength and efficiency was not only important on the front lines but in the homeland, so these political advertisements were made to promote patriotism.

Definitely explains a lot about the inspiration behind Shepard Fairey's art and the OBEY movement. After all, the medium is the message.

Here's a few more cool pieces that were on display..

Van Gogh!

And when no hope was left in sight
On that starry, starry night,
You took your life, as lovers often do.
But I could have told you, Vincent,
This world was never meant for one
As beautiful as you.

Part 2 coming soon!
