Prophets of Profits

Before L&O, I was in a band called Dear Life and we had a song called "Prophets". It was about greedy, money-hungry people in the music industry. I'll let my lyrics do the talking.
"Don’t you remember the things that were once meaningful? I used to think this was something done out of love, out of passion. To convey the soundtracks of our lives, our memories. To write the lines held forth for years to come. I thought this meant the world. I thought wrong. So set your city ablaze and burn everything you have. This wasn’t meant to last, it destroyed anything you had. The green is in control and now you are losing grip because the size of the wallet overshadows the size of the heart. Another gear in the machine turning full cycle for the operation. Like everything empty and aimless, this too shall pass. This too shall pass. Forth comes the rain on your black parade. Forth comes the shade on your false charade. A glory not longstanding. Harmony for hard money. You thought you meant the world. You thought wrong. Your name is up in lights. Your name is up in flames. You are prophets for profits. Your end draws close."
